Patient And Family rights and responsibilities

Being a valued patient, you and your
family have the following Rights:

1. Fully understand and practice all your rights.

2. You may obtain a written copy of these rights either in the form of a brochure or booklet (or any other appropriate form provided by ALMEHWAR Hospital). If, for any reason, you do not understand them, please contact the customer relations office and patient experience office for any help, including providing an interpreter if needed.

3. Full disclosure of health services costs and information related to all services provided by ALMEHWAR Hospital.

4. Receive impartial care and respect for your personal values and beliefs from all staff without discrimination, according to ALMEHWAR Hospital rules and regulations.

5. Receive comprehensive and holistic care aimed at reaching proper medical diagnosis and treatment of your illness and/or injury.

6. Receive immediate care in emergency cases.

7. Choose a physician or change the assigned physician responsible for your care.

8. The group leadership protects the patient’s right to identify who the patient wishes to participate in care decisions.

9. Have an interpreter (upon availability) if the language presents a barrier to understanding details of your
comprehensive medical care.

10. Give informed written consent before any surgery, minimally invasive procedure, anesthesia, transfusion of blood and blood products, or any other medical procedures that entail written consent, according to ALMEHWAR Hospital rules and regulations, after receiving all information you may need. This must include the procedure benefits, available alternatives, and all possible risks.

11. Participate in your care decision-making. ALMEHWAR Hospital encourages patients, parents, or legal guardians to participate in planning and implementing the treatment plan and decisions. ALMEHWAR Hospital staff will ensure that patients and their families feel valued guardians to ask questions.

12. Receive appropriate education and awareness in all aspects of medical care and treatment through education and counseling regarding treatment decisions and care processes.

13. Receive complete and accurate information about your diagnosis, proposed treatment, any changes in your health status, and expected outcomes, as direct caregivers should provide treatment in an understandable way that includes advantages and disadvantages, possible problems related to treatment, and expected results of ignoring the treatment in a simple and understandable manner.

14. Obtain a copy of the medical report and medical test results from the Medical Records Section (upon request), according to the hospital policy and applicable law.

15. Rest assured, at ALMEHWAR Hospital, we value the confidentiality of your information throughout your journey with us.

16. Choose the treating team doctor (upon availability and operational needs).

17. Refuse the treatment. Thus, the treating doctor must inform you of the medical consequences of your refusal. Accordingly, you shall sign a form with your decision.

18. Refuse examination or follow-up of your treatment details by any person not directly responsible for your care. For persons who are not directly involved in your treatment, they must have your prior permission to attend your case discussion, examination, and treatment.

19. Be protected during treatment from any physical, verbal, or psychological assault.

20. Receive – upon your request – an itemized bill explaining all charges regardless of whether they are paid by yourself or by other sources.

21. Complaints and suggestions on services can be submitted through management or the patient experience department in ALMEHWAR Hospital, or through the complaint and suggestion box or hotline number 15626. The patient experience department shall investigate accordingly and give you feedback within 2 to 3 days of complaint submission, and immediately in urgent situations.

22. ALMEHWAR Hospital respects your right to appropriate assessment and management of pain through well-known therapies and provides you with all necessary information in this regard.

23. ALMEHWAR Hospital is committed to giving dignified care to patients suffering from incurable diseases and dying while respecting their needs in accordance with the rules and laws of the regulatory bodies in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

24. The hospital supports the patient’s right to assessment and management of pain and respectful, compassionate care at the end of life.

25. Request to seek a second opinion without fear of compromise in the care process.

Being a valued patient, you and your
family have the following Responsibilities

1. Respect ALMehwar Hospital’s rules and regulations and policies.

2. Show consideration for others and deal with other patients and staff with respect.

3. Respect the privacy and comfort of other patients.

4. Provide complete and accurate information about present complaints, past illnesses, previous hospitalization and treatment, and any known drug allergy.

5. Follow the treating doctor’s instructions.

6. Hold the responsibility for refusing or not following the treatment plan, after being informed of consequences.

7. Attend the appointment on time. If you want to cancel it, inform the Appointment Office 48 hours in advance.

8. Respect the priority given to emergency cases.

9. Observe safety regulations including the no-smoking policy, no alcohol and drug policy, no pets allowed policy, maintaining the cleanliness of the place, personal and hand hygiene, etc.

10. Damage to Property: the patient will be held responsible for loss or damage to the Hospital properties caused by themselves, their guests, or any person for whom they are responsible.

11. Photographs and video taken in the Facility for commercial or public purposes is *illegal*. Unless permission is obtained by management, those who do so will be subject to prosecution.

12. Ensure that financial obligations due for ALMehwar Hospital are fulfilled promptly (if any).

13. Give requested samples and attend medical checkups on time.

14. Avoid bringing valuable personal belongings to ALMehwar Hospital. The management of ALMehwar Hospital will not be responsible for loss of/damage to these belongings. However, in emergency cases, patients who need special items for their stay can mention them in the form and write the recipient’s official details. The Hospital management is not responsible for any consequences resulting from non-adherence to the above instructions.
